Reverend D. Previn Carr accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. Called to preach at the age of 10, Pastor Carr has been dedicated to the cause and call of Christ for over 25 years. Pastor Carr was licensed by the Union Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona under the leadership of the late Reverend A.D. Reid. Because of his faithfulness and obedience, God has used Rev. Carr in a mighty way throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area.
In August of 1998, the Lord spoke to Pastor Carr and told him to begin the Ekklesia Ministry. After much prayer and seeking from God, on December 5, 1999 the Ekklesia vision unfolded, and God allowed the doors of Ekklesia Christian Church to officially open. Pastor Carr's beliefs are exemplified through the Word of God, as well as, the foundation that God has used to establish the Ekklesia Christian Church.
Pastor Carr's commitment and dedication to the Word of God has caused lives to be changed, souls to be won to Christ, and a deeper commitment to the ministry has been seen in the lives of those who are committed to the Word of God taught by Pastor Carr. God has richly blessed Pastor Carr with the gift of exposing, exemplifying and explaining the Word of God. The Ekklesia Church has witnessed spiritual growth because of the dedication and commitment to the Word of God that Pastor Carr has exhibited.
In addition to his commitment to the call of Christ and the ministry of Ekklesia, Pastor Carr is also committed to family. He is a dedicated and devoted husband to his wife, First Lady Kimberly Carr, and proud father of their daughter Kailah. Pastor Carr believes that family is one of God's gifts that have to be nourished and cherished. This commitment is exhibited in the team effort in leadership and their commitment and compassion for the Ministry. Their dedication to the their family, marriage, and the ministry continues to be evidence that God can do exceedingly above all that we can ask or think. The two have become an example of what God can do when two people become one, and are working toward the same goal. As his pastor's family grows, so grows his commitment to their spiritual, emotional and financial success.
Pastor Carr believes in the benefits and blessings of fellowship and connection with others in the Body of Christ. As a result he is actively involved with several national and international ministries. Pastor Carr is affiliated with The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Emmanuel District of the Arizona Jurisdiction for the Church of God in Christ, The Convention of Covenanting Churches, and the Arizona Fellowship of Christian Churches. Each ministry enables Pastor Carr and the Ekklesia church to experience all that God has in store and equip the "church" (Ekklesia) to do the work of the ministry.
In addition to his dedication to the upbuilding of God's kingdom; and his commitment to his family, church and community, Pastor Carr works as an enrollment counselor at Grand Canyon University. This job enables Pastor Carr to be a mentor as well as, advise and assist students in directing their lives down the right path. Pastor Carr has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Education.
As Pastor Carr continues to serve the people of God, he is seeking the hand of God to be with him as he endeavors to continue the work of the ministry. Pastor Carr believes that God's Word has the power to change and transform lives and he strives daily to be the best husband, father and Pastor that God has destined for him to be. His enthusiasm is contagious, and the members of Ekklesia are excited about the growth they have received through the Word of God, as well as, what God is doing in the lives of His people.
